Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that he would continue fighting in defence of democratic norms and values.
At a programme on Policy and Leadership in 14th General Convention organised here today by Nepali Congress Sindhupalchowk District Working Committee, Poudel promised to fight from the ground as the risk over democracy was not still over though the then NC President Girija Prasad Koirala offered Poudel to become the first President of the country.”Democracy is at risk from the leaders themselves.
It would be unfortunate if the people become blind supporters of the leaders. I have started the latest movement in defence of democratic norms and values from Damauli bridge of my hometown. This campaign will continue until the democratisation process is completed,” the NC leader added.
He also stated that he was working to further democratise the NC while adding that a trend of becoming a strong leader of a weaker party should be ended to foster internal democracy.
Leader Poudel claimed that there was foul play in active membership distribution in the party in the 14th general convention.
NC leaders from Sindhupalchowk Shiva Sunar, Bil Bahadur Tamang, Dev Prasad Baniya and others expressed their opinion at the programme.
