Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ has said the home administration has been successful in maintaining peace and security in the country. During his interaction with media persons about annual work execution progress of the last fiscal year and the future course of action of the Home Ministry, he underlined the need of strengthening the situation of peace and security to realize the vision of ‘prosperous Nepal, happy Nepali’.
He took time to make it clear that the government was trying to avoid untoward incidence(s) of violence from the Netra Bikram Chand Group so as to further strengthen federalism by safeguarding political achievements possible after a long time. Stating that solution to the issue was possible through talks, he shared that the Group had been requested several times to come for the talks. “The government has so far not got any proposal from the Biplav Group for talks.”
He went on to say in a bid to keep the national unity intact, the government was successful in bringing the CK Raut-led group to the mainstream of politics. “The government gained a success in addressing the issues of cross-border crimes such as smuggling of goods and human trafficking.” The Home Minister claimed that it was attempted to politicise the Nirmala’s rape and murder case, underlining the need of collaborative efforts among the Home Administration, Civil Society and journalists to find out perpetrator (s).
He said although Nepal Police became 95 per cent successful to bring murderers and rapists under the ambit of action, investigation was underway in some cases. The Home Minister said, “We coordinating with Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management will take action against those contractors failing to complete their works on time.”
Similarly, Secretary at the Home Ministry, Prem Kumar Rai, said that investigation into Nirmala murder case was underway.Saying discussion on bill related to Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal is on, he said both organisations have their own jurisdiction. Rai further said that Nepal Police have carried out remarkable works in peace and security of the country despite limited means and resources.
According to the Ministry, out of 82-point Home administration reform action plan, 78 have already been implemented. The Ministry added that it ended syndicate of public transport sector, security coordination between the federation and states have been made, relief was provided within 24 hours of disaster incident.
