Initiatives to be taken for capacity building of athletes: Minister Magar

Bhimduttanagar- Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation, Bina Magar, has said initiative would be taken for capacity building of players.

At a concluding ceremony of the Prime Minister Cup Women Cricket National Championship at Bhimduttanagar of Kanchanpur on Wednesday, Minister Magar said that new dimension would begin from appropriate protection and management of youths and athletes. “It is necessary to create environment for overall development of sports and youths should be committed to the goal of building a prosperous Nepal,” she observed.

The Sports Minister was of the view that the sport could not be taken only as entertainment. It establishes identity of players making them disciplined. Development of sports in Far West State was one of the priorities, according to her.On the occasion, Minister Magar honoured winner and runner-up teams with cash, trophy and medal.

The winner Armed Police Force was awarded with Rs 500,000 and trophy while runner-up Far West with Rs 300,000 and trophy.Similarly, APF team Captain Sita Rana Magar was announced as ‘series of the tournament’ while Khusi Dangol of State-3 and Kabita Kunwar of Far West State were awarded with ‘best bowler’ and ‘best batswoman’ respectively.

The APF team had won the title defeating Far West by six wickets in the final match held on Wednesday morning.
Chosen to field first by winning the toss, the Far West State made 71 runs in 20 overs. Chasing the target posted by the State, the APF made 74 runs in 14 overs by losing 4 wickets.
