Former President Dr Rambaran Yadav on Saturday recognised ‘important’ role of artists and litterateurs in nation-building efforts. “There is a need for artists to understand people’s sentiments and produce encouraging work having capacity to link Tarai and Hill and repair damaged relationships. Contribution of artists to country’s changes should be counted,” he said while addressing the Ninth Anniversary of the Lyricists’ Association of Nepal and an honour programme here.
On the occasion, lyricist Nagendra Thapa has been presented with ‘Rastriya Shrastha Award’.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and a certificate. Likewise, DR Upadhaya and Hangyug Agyat were honoured with ‘Song Award, 2076’, and Urmila Koirala and Saurav Gurung with ‘Book Award, 2076’. Both awards carry a purse of Rs 51,000 and a certificate each . rss
