OSNEPALNEWS, Kathmandu, 25th April: An empty Air India plane on Wednesday night caught fire during repair at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. A Delhi to San Francisco flight caught fire in Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) yesterday late night at Delhi’s IGI airport. The Boeing 777 airplane was undergoing a schedule pre-flight maintenance check and according to ANI, the fire started during the AC repair work. The airline, in a statement, called it a “minor incident”. The aircraft was parked at the bay for the repair work and no one was injured in the incident.
When an engineer was doing a routine technical examination of the empty aircraft (777) at the Delhi airport on Wednesday night, auto shutdown of the auxiliary power unit (APU) took place, the airline said. The fire was doused immediately.
