Prisons consume most of Food Corporation’s rice

Pokhara- The greater portion rice stocked by the Nepal Food Corporation’s (NFC) store in Pokhara has been sold to various prisons in Gandaki State. The Corporation’s godown in Pokhara has been supplying food grains in various remote places and prisons of Gandaki State including Manang and Mustang districts.

The godown currently has a stock of 500 quintal of rice, majority of which is sold to general public, prisons and orphanages, according to NFC’s Pokhara branch Information officer, Bhagwan Bhandari.

Kaski Prison has been buying 200 quintal of sona mansuli spices of rice on a monthly basis while 100 quintal of rice of same spices in used by other prisons in a month.The Corporation has been selling other food grains and food stuffs such as wheat, salt and oil in the remote parts of the State at a subsided price.
