Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota has reaffirmed that Nepal Film Development Board (NFDC) would be developed as the Nepal Film Federation. Addressing the Tamang Film Festival organized at Bhakundebeshi, Namobuddha Municipality-7 in the district today, Minister Banskota said, “The NFDC was in running in an unscientific manner. It would be revamped and transformed into the Nepal Film Federation.”The Federation will be developed as an umbrella organization of all the film associations in the country, according to Minister Banskota.
Sharing that a legal draft was being made to establish Federation, he assured that the law regarding the Federation would be introduced with the new fiscal year. The Minister also gushed that it was exciting to see the films being made in different languages and cultures in a multilingual and multicultural country like Nepal. He also said that various communities should show their films for 180 days in the cinema halls of the country.
Present at the programme were member of House of Representatives Ganga Bahadur Dong and Namo Buddha Municipality Mayor Tanka Prasad Timalsina among others who extended their best wishes for the success of the film festival. During the three-day festivals, musical and cultural processions would be showed. Five movies in Tamang languages and stories would be screened during the event, said organizer Biku Thokar.
