Police chief performs Maulo Puja

Kathmandu-Inspector General of Police, Sarbendra Khanal, today performed the customary Maulo puja amidst a ceremony at the Nepal Police Headquarters on the occasion of Chaite Dashain.

Following the rituals, the Nepal Police Nishan (institutional flag) was taken to the main armory of Hanuman Dhoka and the Nepali New Year (2076 BS) greetings were exchanged.The Nishan is taken as a symbol of the source of divine power and the tutelary deity of Nepal Police with the significance for achieving success in its duties and responsibilities of maintaining peace and security in the nation and for the citizen.

Meanwhile, IGP Khanal today presented the insignia to Tek Prasad Rai who was promoted to Senior Superintendent of Police from Superintendent of Police through the ministerial-level meeting. He was promoted while he was on the United Nations peacekeeping mission. Rai returned home some days back.
