NC to launch nationwide awareness campaign: President Deuba

Pokhara- Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has reiterated that he was committed to unifying the party by wiping out factionalism and groups of party betrayal. In order to make the organization further stronger, the party was going to launch nationwide awareness campaign from coming New Year, NC President Deuba said while inaugurating the two-day national conference of district treasurer of the party here Thursday.“It is good to institute a fund by the treasurers,” he lauded.

On a different note, he accused the present government of suppressing press freedom and influencing every national affairs by the ruling party.On the occasion, senior leader Ramchandra Poudel, pointed out the need of making the party unified and one. Those facing injustice in the party organization must be heeded, he demanded.

He also expressed concern over government’s appointments in constitutional bodies, which have drawn controversy. Leader Poudel seconded Deuba in accusing government of dominating every sphere in the country, making appointments unilaterally. General Secretary Sashank Koirala admitted that the party met fiasco in the last elections because of the betrayal of own party leaders. If the party does not correct and becomes united, its future is poised to further crisis, he warned.

Central member Prakash Man Singh viewed that financial activities of the party must be made transparent. The conference would be fruitful to know about various and financial issues of income and expenditure and auditing, he hoped. He suggested the party leadership to study why the people were not satisfied with it as it was reflected in the last elections.
Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said new energy, strength and awareness was essential to restore party’s vigour.
