Kathmandu- At a time when more than 14,000 school teachers have been recommended for the permanent appointment after the exam for internal competition, those missing this opportunity have been waging agitation demanding their permanence.
The government made eight and ninth amendments of the Education Act-2028 in line with the agreement made with the teachers which paved way for the Teachers’ Service Commission to conduct exams for permanent fulfillment of schoolteachers. Now, after both the written and oral examinations, a total of 14,271 teachers are getting appointed in different levels at the schools across the country. However, among them, 174 are waiting the result of oral exam.
The Education and Human Resource Development Centre under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed all districts’ education development and coordination units for the installation of 10,883 teachers at primary level, 1,909 at lower secondary level and 1,479 at secondary level. The teachers will be provided the appointment letters by the end of Chaitra.
Nepal Teachers’ Federation has noted the new appointment of teachers as the historic one. Now, those who are still working as temporary teachers need to be bid farewell based on the agreement of February 21.
Meanwhile, the temporary teachers’ struggle committee has continued its pressure programmes in Kathmandu, demanding the government to provide one more chance of internal examination for those who failed to make through this exam, because the temporary teachers could be offered the scheme of golden handshake.
