VP Pun calls for conserving language, culture for country’s prosperity

Kathmandu- Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun on Sunday said language, culture and cultural practices of the country should be conserved to prosper it. “Language and culture of a country should be strengthened for its prosperity. Now, language of our country is being threatened. We will be made weak if our language disappears. So there is a need to conserve our language and culture and get new generations attracted to it,” he said inaugurating ‘the second revolution day-Nepal Literature Festival, 2075’ here.

Saying Litterateurs and artists had special contributions to all sorts of revolutions and movements, he urged them to help achieve country’s goals of economic prosperity.

On the occasion, Minister of state 3 for Social Development Yubaraj Dulal viewed that academic sector should lead a journey of country’s prosperity ahead while saying the sector had great contribution to various movements of the country.Lower House member Krishna Rai and State Assembly member Rameshwar Phunyal stressed on promoting culture and arts for national prosperity.

Seven literary figures and artists were feted by Kranti Nakshatra Samman on the occasion. They are Modnath Prashrit, Narayan Bhakta Shrestha ‘Rayan’, Ram Krishna Duwal, Nanda Krishna Joshi, Madhu Gurung, Bhumika Subba and Megharaj Sharma ‘Manjul’.
