NC district presidents’ informal gathering discusses relief issue

Kathmandu- A two-day informal gathering of the Nepali Congress (NC) presidents kicked off today in the central capital. The issue of reaching the settlements in Bara and Parsa affected by the recent strong storm was discussed in the first day of gathering. According to Rolpa district president Amar Singh Pun, the meeting discussed how the district presidents could help the affected and how the relief could be provided to them. A total of 30 people have so far died from the disaster and hundreds have been injured.

The gathering specially is held to exert pressure on the leadership to address the demands. Issues for electing all party office bearers and central members from the ward-level and ensuring the reservation facility to one individual just for once were raised during the discussion. Over three dozens of district presidents have assembled for the meeting.

There is, however, no representation of district presidents close to the establishment side, it is said.
NC Bhaktapur president Durlav Thapa said no informal gathering and programme of district presidents is held.The gathering is learnt to have been preparing for issuing the Kathmandu declaration.The NC party central office said it was not informed about the gathering.
