Bhimdattanagar, Feb 20 : Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghubir Mahaseth inspected the under-construction four-lane concrete bridge over the Mahakali river in Kanchanpur district today. He also inspected the approach road as well as the bridges being constructed on this road. After the inspection, the Physical Infrastructure Minister instructed the contractor company to speed up the road and bridge construction works.
The people of ward no 11, 12 and 13 of Bhimdattanagar Municipality urged the Minister to provide compensation to the people who have been using the unregistered land that would be required for the construction of the approach road. Addressing the programme organised by the locals, Minister Mahaseth said the government was carrying out necessary home work regarding providing compensation to the locals who have been using the unregistered land that lies in the path of the approach road.
“Be assured. We have already presented the topic of compensation in the Council of Ministers for a decision. You people should also extend full cooperation in the development of physical infrastructures,” he said. The locals who have been tilling the unregistered land on the bank of the Mahakali river for 53 years have on the occasion submitted a memorandum to the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister, calling for compensation.
Ministry secretary Madhusudan Adhikari, officials of the Department of Roads had also accompanied the Minister during the inspection. The construction company has been saying that the road construction has been delayed as the issue of compensation for the unregistered land on the path of the approach road was not settled. (RSS)
